No, really, it’ll never fly

Back in late ‘93, I declared that the newfangled World Wide Web, though nifty, would never be more than a silly waste of time. (That was back when “link list” pages outnumbered pages with actual content.)

Boy, was I wrong.

I still think that blogs are an exercise in ego inflation, though.

Yay. I found Luke’s blog. (totally by accident.)
Yay. I’m the first to post a comment to Luke’s blog.
Yay. I had pretty much the same initial reaction to the web. I considered it “gopher with pictures. So what?”
Yay. I semi-regularly exercise my ego at http://www.accapehart.com/journal/

Sure, they can be. They can also be a place to put semi-public thoughts, musings, and experiences that you want to retain for later, whether for your own or others’ amusement/nostalgia.

They’re also good ways to keep in touch with a community of friends, although that’s easier if you use a community-oriented site like Livejournal.

If you like the extra hassle of having to run your own software, though, have fun. :^)

Also, if you want an LJ RSS feed for your blog here, let me nkow.

Also, there’s something wrong with your timestamping — all the entries say that they were made today…
